You’ll notice the buttons on our website and from time to time on our Facebook page. Positive Energy Outdoors holds a unique place in the area as a not-for-profit that provides open adventure tours for the community like other adventure outfits. We have dog sledding, kayaking, rock climbing, and more. But, we also have youth education programs, supported, in part, by revenue generated from our adventure tours, Head of the Lakes United Way funds, and generous support from other organizations as well as local companies like HMI.
But, we also depend on individuals giving generously to our not-for-profit organization so that we can take care of our team of 55 active and retired sled dogs, our two Percheron draft horses, and so that we can provide kids with youth education opportunities–through our camps, field trips, and clubs–that many of them might not otherwise be able to experience. Among the 1,200 kids we served in 2016, from Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin, nearly half of those kids came from low-income families.
Your donation also supports field trips, activities at PEO for local youth agencies, and outdoor leadership programming and cultural exchange experiences for teens.
Our youth education programs have real results.
- Improved physical, mental and social health
- Improved ability to learn and concentrate
- Reduced stress
- Improved interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
- Environmental awareness and stewardship ethics
- Reduced screen time
- A connection to animals
